The Story So Far…
The Stagger Rats’ music is rhythmic and tight with a versatile sound: one song could be a pretty ballad, the next- a powerful gypsy whirlwind. Since May 2009, they have achieved notable success on the UK music circuit performing at some of the most well known music venues alongside some of the biggest names in the contemporary British music scene. Summer 2010 saw The Stagger Rats play twelve music festivals across the UK on the same bill as established acts such as Gomez, The View, Gill Scott-Heron, 80s Matchbox B – Line Disaster and British Sea Power.
Their first single (self funded) ‘See Through Spiders‘ – drew the attention of film industry professionals and was subsequently used as the title track for the independent film ‘PIMP’, released in 2010, starring Danny Dyer, Billy Boyd, Robert Cavanagh and Martin Compston. The Stagger Rats performed live at the premieres of PIMP in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London in June 2010.
As one of the financial backers of PIMP, WP Ents got to know the band and were so convinced of their talent that they whisked the boys to Budapest to perform at one of their signature parties, Reel Dirty, on 4 December 2010. Shortly after, WP Ents signed up The Stagger Rats to record their first album. They engaged Owen Morris who worked with international artists such as Oasis, the Verve, The View and Kaiser Chiefs.
The Stagger Rats enjoyed their two month stint inBudapest working on the album and shooting three music videos. Shooting locations included the ex-Warner Bro’s studio, Brody House and a unique palace in the heart ofBudapest which housed the world-famous Kincsem race horse giving the videos a suitably quirky British feel. The singles and the videos for ‘Sleeping Off Ecstasy’; ‘Fuzzy, Fuzzy’ and ‘I’m in love’ will be released over the Summer (2011). The album will be released towards the end of 2011.
