“For most indie record stores, the rumours of our demise are not just greatly exaggerated, they’re downright confusing. As we continue to provide our communities with a rallying point for the arts, our customers are speaking loud and clear, ‘we’re not letting you guys go anywhere.’”
Independent Record Store Day 2013: We have over 400 new releases coming out next Saturday, and we’re putting on some great live music from some great Scottish bands, including Glasvegas, Woodenbox, French Wives, Three Blind Wolves, Washington Irving, Fake Major, Viking Galaxy, and Young Aviators. Record Store Day was set up to draw attention to the importance of Independent record shops to their local community, and to help them survive a difficult time in the changing marketplace. A big part of the success of Record Store Day is the exclusive product that is only available from indie shops like us, and not HMV, Amazon or iTunes. Love Music is a big supporter of Scottish music and Scottish independent labels, and we’re very pleased that so many of our featured live acts have new releases coming out on Record Store Day. You’ll have first chance to buy the new albums from Woodenbox, Young Aviators, Washington Irving, & Viking Galaxy, and we have special Record Store Day singles from Glasvegas, Fake Major and an exclusive EP release from Three Blind Wolves called “Three Blind Wolves Love Music”. We’ll also have our free Tea Stall, and the Classic Rock Cake.
This year we have a Pinball Masterclass Challenge, with 3-times Scottish Pinball Champion Eric Ridley, starting at 1:00pm. Eric runs the Paisley Pinball company, and owns 20 pinball machines, including our AC/DC model. If anybody manages to beat him in 2 outta 3 games, we’ll have a special Record Store Day prize (which we’ll make up on the day!) So Music Lovers, come hang out with us next Saturday, and show your support for Independent Record Shops and Scottish music.
Record Store Day’s original mission statement: “For most indie record stores, the rumours of our demise are not just greatly exaggerated, they’re downright confusing. As we continue to provide our communities with a rallying point for the arts, our customers are speaking loud and clear, ‘we’re not letting you guys go anywhere.’”
